Margaret Lee (nee Ellis), 94, of Winchester, Va., formerly of Ridgewood, died October 20, 2013. Born in Kingstree, SC to Mary Gordon Ellis and Junius Gaither Ellis, Margaret was a 1935 graduate of The Savannah High School in Savannah, Georgia. Subsequently she graduated from the Hackensack, NJ Hospital School of Nursing and received advanced training at Ohio State University. During WWII she was a floor nurse at Curtiss Wright Aeronautical. Later she worked at Hackensack Hospital and was also nurse, office manager and anesthesia assistant at her husband's oral surgery practice in Ridgewood. Always a proponent for those less fortunate, at age 64 she worked for three months as a nurse at a resettlement on the Laotian border during the "Killing Fields" period. Margaret remained active on church boards, playing bridge and boating at her summer home in the Thousand Islands into her 90's. She is survived by her husband Chester W.; two sons, Donald and his wife Linda, and David and his wife Shirley; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, a memorial service at 11 AM, Friday, Nov 1, at the Middleburg, VA United Methodist Church and next summer at Grindstone Island. Memorial contributions may be made to The Coosawatchie Senior Citizens Center, or to the Grindstone Island Methodist Church.
