Melvin Gittleman Obituary
Melvin, age 82, of Englewood Cliffs, on April 16, 2013. He was born in Jersey City, raised in Hoboken and graduated Yale Law School. He served his country proudly in the Army and established the firm of Gittleman, Muhlstock & Chewcaskie, Fort Lee. Popular toastmaster known for his wit and sharp mind, Avid athlete, star tennis player and star of the Bergen County Loopholes, a lawyer's softball team which he named. He enjoyed summers at Fire Island with his family. He served as Boro Attorney of Fort Lee & Englewood Cliffs and Englewood Cliffs Man of the year. Beloved husband of Marilyn (nee Green). Devoted father of Amy Goodman (Robert) and the late Adam Gittleman. An adoring grandfather of Kate and Matthew. Loving brother of Sol Gittleman. A warm hearted and generous friend who will always be remembered. Chapel Service Friday in Eden Memorial Chapels, Inc. at 12 PM. So sorry to just learn of Mel's passing. I will always think of him fondly for all the years he worked with and knew my Father and family. He was well regarded and I will be forever grateful to his help and advice with my Mother and her care. Please accept my deepest sympathy at this sad time. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
