Shirley LAZAR Obituary
Shirley (nee Zimmer), age 82, of New York City and Sarasota, FL, formerly of Fair Lawn, passed away peacefully on Wednesday night, August 5, 2015, at her home in New York City, surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of Irwin Lazar for 63 wonderful loving years. Devoted mother of David Lazar, Susan Ahearn and her husband, former New Jersey State Assemblyman Matthew Ahearn and Dr. Paul Lazar and his wife Pei. Proud grandmother of Deena, Eric, Lauryn, Samantha, Kelly and Jacob. Loving great-grandmother of Parker. Shirley earned her Bachelor's Degree at William Paterson University in Wayne and earned her Master's Degree in Library Science at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Shirley was a children's librarian at the Maurice Pine Public Library in Fair Lawn, afterwards she was the branch library manager at Paterson's main library on Broadway, and after this, Shirley was the assistant director of the Hackensack Public Library. A private service will be held today at the Sanctuary of Abraham & Sarah Mausoleum Chapel in Paramus. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Planned Parenthood. Arrangements are by Louis Suburban Chapel, Fair Lawn, NJ.
