Kevin Spatz Obituary
Kevin P. Spatz Sr., 78, of Wyckoff, died Friday, April 7, 2017 following a brief illness at The Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, NJ surrounded by his loving family. Kevin was born in Jersey City, NJ, the son of the late Henry C. and Mary V (nee Coughlin) Spatz and resided in Somerset, NJ before moving to Wyckoff, NJ 46 years ago. He attended Sacred Heart School, Jersey City, NJ, Xavier High School, New York, NY, and graduated from Fordham University with a B.S. in English. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant upon graduation and served his country honorably. His working career allowed him to travel internationally, most often as a vice president of manufacturing. As an active parishioner at St. Elizabeth's RC Church, Wyckoff, NJ, he served as parish council president and was a CCD teacher, Eucharistic minister, prayer group leader, and scout master. His first love was to spend time with his family which was most important to him. He enjoyed a good round of golf, loved to travel, and was an avid genealogist. He is survived by his adoring wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Spatz, who he met when he was 17; his four loving sons and their wives, whom Kevin loved as daughters: Kevin and Jean of Ho-Ho-Kus, John and Jean of Wyckoff, J. Keith and Erin of Newton, MA and Matthew and Anne of Midland Park; his seven cherished grandchildren: Sean, Connor, Brooke, Ryan, Daniel, Anne, and Makena; and his many nieces and nephews. The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth's RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. The interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, 823 West Side Avenue, Jersey City, NJ 07306. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Kevin's memory may be made to St. Elizabeth RC Church with "Sacred Heart School (Angel Fund)" on the memo line.

Dearest Spatz Family,
Our deepest condolences to your wonderful loving family. We are so sorry for your loss as your father and grandfather was such a kind man with a sweet soul. He was a leader along with his beautiful wife of this faithful family. When I think Notre Dame and Thanksgiving I think of the Spatz family. Mary, John and Jean, Kevin, Keith, Matt and all, much love and prayers during this extremely difficult time.

I am so saddened about the passing of Uncle Kevin. He always made me laugh and I truly enjoyed our conversations. He would often tell me stories about Aunt Mary & Uncle Harry, Uncle Peter, Aunt Kay, etc. He would tell me that I was one lucky little girl to be adopted into such a loving family. Thanks for the memories.
