Andrew Komarinetz Obituary

Andrew "Andy" Komarinetz April 23, 1927 - March 18, 2014 UNCASVILLE - Andrew "Andy" Komarinetz passed on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the age of 86. He was born on April 23, 1927 to Andrew Komarinetz and Anne Luserpernuk Komarinetz. Soon after graduating from Weaver High School in Hartford, he joined the US Marine Corps where he served during WWII and the Korean Conflict. After his service he attended Springfield College in Springfield, MA, graduating in 1953. He then began a career with the State of Connecticut as a social worker for over thirty years, working mainly with teenage boys helping them transition from foster care to permanent homes. Many of these young men called him later in their lives to thank him for his kindness and help. In 1954 he married Ruth Orient who survives him, and they were married for 60 wonderful years. Their son Stephen and his wife Eleanor Komarinetz of Uncasville, and his son Jeffrey and his wife Kim Komarinetz of Edgartown, MA, survive Andrew. His daughter Stacy Orticelli predeceased him in 2007. Two grandchildren Kiernan Komarinetz, Kenzie Komarinetz and great granddaughter Leigh DiLorenzo and her husband Jason and their children, John Andrew and Stella Marie also survive him. A word to best describe Andy would be a gentleman.
