Irma Kathryn Hayford Thalken

1917 - 2008

OGALLALA - Irma Kathryn Hayford Thalken, 90, of rural Ogallala, passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at Indian Hills Manor.

Irma was born Dec. 23, 1917, at Belgrade, the daughter of Edward W. and Gladys F. Rathbun Hayford. She graduated from Ogallala High School in 1937.

On Aug. 17, 1937, Irma married John Darrel Thalken in Ogallala.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Lyle Hayford; her husband John D. Thalken; and an infant daughter Mary Kathryn Thalken.

Survivors include her son, Charles Edward (Emiko) Thalken of Ogallala; and her daughter, Kathy E. (Rick) Salsman of Grant; two sisters, Phyllis Hayford Cox of Scottsdale, Ariz., and JoAnn R. Hayford Armstrong and her husband Dale of Salt Lake City, Utah; two grandsons, Charles Patrick Thalken and his wife Kimberly of San Antonio, Texas, and Daniel Ryan Salsman of Grant; two granddaughters, Stacey Lynn Thalken-Baird and her husband Matthew Baird of Atlanta, Ga.; and Kelly Ann Parish; and her husband Micheal of San Antonio; five great-grandchildren, Esme Carter Carpenter and Mirette Mullen Carpenter, both of Atlanta, Ellery Yvonne Parish and Miles Archer Parish of San Antonio, and Scarlett Adeline Thalken of San Antonio.

Due to relatives' conflicts the funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Dec. 10, 2008, at St. Lukes Catholic Church with Rev. Bryan Ernest the celebrant.

The rosary and wake service will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 9, 2008, at Draucker Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery. Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of the arrangements.
