Eleanor Aaron Obituary

Eleanor Louise Aaron, 87, of North Platte, died Aug. 10, 2011, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte surrounded by her loving family. She fought a short but courageous battle with leukemia.
Eleanor was born April 28, 1924, at Craig to Whitlaw Reid and Olga M. Eby. She was raised on the family farm near Craig.
Following her high school graduation, Eleanor married Gervase V. Aaron, of Decatur, on May 3, 1942, at Papillion. To this union four children were born. Together, they made their home in Wauneta and then Imperial before moving to Ogallala where Eleanor was employed by TRW for many years. They enjoyed over 60 years of marriage.
Upon her retirement they relocated to North Platte, where she lived until her death.
Eleanor was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was involved in many organizations including Women of the Moose, Moose Heart, RSVP, Christian Women's Club, VFW Auxiliary, and the Eagle's Auxiliary.
She enjoyed her many years of service work for various Veterans' organizations, as well as playing the piano for the residents of Linden Estates. Eleanor also enjoyed tending to her beautiful lawn and gardens; there wasn't a flower or vegetable that she and Gervase could not nurture to its fullest.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gervase; her parents; and a sister, Iona Edmonston.
Eleanor is survived by her four children and spouses; Lucy (Edmon) Adams, of Alamosa, Colo., John Aaron, of Littleton, Colo., Mary (Hal) Elmshaeuser, of North Platte, and Debra (Randy) Raines, of Gering; four grandchildren, including Ben Elmshaeuser, Amy (Elmshaeuser) Helgeson, Kari Adams, and Aaron Raines; and six great-grandchildren with a seventh expected soon. Additional survivors include her sister, Dorothy Wiese, of Omaha; sister-in-law, Luella (George) Allison, of Omaha; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Eleanor had many friends, neighbors, and acquaintances that will dearly miss her friendship.
The online memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church Preschool.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Douglas A. Delp officiating. Inurnment will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery south of Maxwell.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.

To the family of Eleanor,
We want you to know that we will miss your mother very much, she meant a lot to us and many many people. We loved your mother and father dearly, they came to our dances and enjoyed themselves and us. We sat on different comittees with them and had a blast. we will miss Eleanor deeply, just as we have Gervase.
God Bless all of you and you are in our thoughts and prayers.
