Bruce Campbell Obituary
The army was Bruce's life; on drill weekends he was in his zone, he was at home, comfortable and at peace alongside his fellow soldiers. Few people knew that Bruce ached from depression which was intensified by his deployment to Iraq in 2008. When Bruce came home from Iraq he began suffering from PTSD, however Bruce was afraid to ask for help for fear he would be asked to resign or released from the military. PTSD is a serious disorder that many are not aware of the consequences if left untreated.
He leaves behind a wife Jessica Poe Campbell; a 15 year old son Peyton Poe; a ten year old daughter Kelsi Campbell; and a five year old son Andres James Campbell "A.J.".
Bruce will be remembered as a fun loving, energetic, hardworking, loyal man who would have given anything for his family, friends, and country; a hero who suffered in silence.
A funeral service will be held at the Calvary Episcopal Church in Front Royal, Virginia, at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday.
In place of flowers please make a donation to the Wounded Warriors Program to raise awareness and reach out to other veterans.

I am recently finding out this sad news... I knew Bruce for several years prior to his entering the service. I met him through David Loranger and Paul Flibbotte. Bruce was fun and kind and took to you like family I received many letters from him throughout boot camp and shortly after sadly though life took over I moved became engaged had a daughter,,,and thus lost touch,,,,,and for that I am truly sorry.....RIP peice my wild Scottish lad,,,,,,,love you brother,,,,,,till the other side,,,,save me a stool.

As the days of our lifes pass us by and we're all caught up in what is and what isn't. What we think and feel is the worst day ever. I just want to say that there will never be a day that passes where I don't remember and think deeply of one of my dearest. Bruce you will be forever missed and not a moment passes that I don't regret not being there the moment you need someone to be. I will never forget the many years we spent making our own paths as young kids growing up. Skipping class, sneaking in and out at night and raising absolute hell every chance we could. I miss you my brother and may you rest in peace. Til we meet again, I love you

Bruce and I knew each other as teenagers in Virginia Beach back in the days of higu school and his purple VW bus. I remember being drawn to the sparkle in his eyes and the kindness of his face. I tried to find him over the years, wanting to catch up and hear of the man he'd become. I am so desperately sorry for the lost of such a kind soul and hope that in time the memories of time spent with him help to fill the void his absence has created. I knew at 15 years old Bruce would become a good man and by reading the kind words of those whose lives were touched by his light-I know he became that man. Though it's been years-I've always remembered him fondly. My thoughts are with you all-for no matter how much he was hurting I'm sure he knew and was reminded every day how much you all loved him.

My heart breaks for you and your children. Bruce was an amazing husband, father and was an even better person. I always enjoyed running into him in town, as he always made a point to stop and catch up.
Thank you for being so outspoken about the damaging effects of PTSD. It affects so many of our service men and women, who continue to valiantly do so much for our country. I applaud your courage and strength and know Bruce's death will not be in vain.
May you take comfort in your many memories and the love that surrounds you during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers remain with all who loved Bruce.
