William Sweet Obituary


William D. Sweet, age 89, of Berryville, VA died on February 14, 2010 at Winchester Hospital.

He was born on February 22, 1925 in Acme, WV to the late Kelly and Marie Massey Sweet. William was a United States Army World War II Veteran.

William was the beloved husband of 42 years of Margery V. Sweet, loving and devoted step-father of Loretta Holdaway of Harpers Ferry, WV, Margaret Hanes and her husband Bob of Supply, NC and Jeanie Bertelson and her husband Mike of Purcellville, VA, brother of Mary Harold of Aiken, SC, step-brother of Toby Swecker of Bluegrass, VA, proud grandfather of nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and numerous other family members.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 19th at 2 pm at Smith's Chapel United Methodist Church, 11318 Beach Mill Road, Great Falls, VA 22066. Interment will immediately follow at Smith's Chapel Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.
