Ronald Reil Obituary

Ronald Lester Reil, 68, of Front Royal, Virginia peacefully departed this life, surrounded by his loving family at home, on Friday, December 30, 2011.

There will be a gathering of friends and family on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home followed by a celebration of Ronnie's life at 1:30 conducted by Donald Day, Lay Speaker and Sammy Campbell. Interment overlooking his beloved Penny will follow the service at Panorama Memorial Gardens.

Ronnie was born on August 6, 1943 in Front Royal, the only son to the late Guy Lester and Odella Lansberry Reil. He graduated from John S. Mosby Academy in 1962 and immediately began his study and subsequent career in mechanics, retiring in 2008 from Brentwood Industries in Martinsburg, WV.

Ronnie had many interests and loves including his family, walking in the woods, Western movies, Nascar, the Dallas Cowboys, Budweiser and old vehicles; taking pride and always willing to lend a hand and teach others, including his sons, to work on them. He formed many close relationships with his outgoing and very friendly attitude with all.

Ronnie leaves behind his wife and love of his life since 1976, Edna Jean Troxell Reil. Also left behind to cherish his precious memory are his children, Bradley Wade Reil and companion Tiffany of Front Royal; William "Billy" Edgar Davis and wife Angela of Browntown; Elizabeth "Troy" Darr and husband Joe of Browntown; and Heidi Leigh Jacob of Front Royal.

"Looking back all I can say
About all the things he did for me is
I hope I'm at least half the dad
That he didn't have to be, 'cause he didn't have to be"

He also leaves behind his six adored grandchildren, Jennifer Patton and husband Michael of Linden; Joseph Darr and Jared Darr of Browntown; Logan Davis and Nicholas Davis of Browntown; and Robert "Bobby" Funk of Front Royal; two precious great-grandchildren, Cayden Michael Patton and Natalie Reilynn Patton of Linden; five sisters, Ann Wines, Betty Lou Hudson, Jean Rutherford and Claire "Sis" Ramey all of Front Royal; and Pat Reil of Middletown and numerous nieces and nephews. Those also left to cherish time spent with him are friends, Don Day, Bob Miller, Steve Peer, Joe Oates, Jim Faulkwell, Tim Hastings and Floyd Lilly. He will also be missed dearly by his grand-dogs whom he sat for frequently, Max Darr and Daisy Davis.

In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Marie Reil (Daddy's Little Angel).

Pallbearers will be Joe Darr, Joseph Darr, Jared Darr, Logan Davis, Michael Patton and Floyd Lilly.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Davis, Bobby Funk and Lenny Weaver.

In lieu of flowers please direct donations to help with funeral expenses to Billy or Angela Davis at 5112 Bentonville Rd., Browntown, VA 22610.

You always hear the saying "he would give the shirt off his back." There are very few who actually live up to that. Ronnie was one of them who did. I will always remember the smile on his face even while he was at work. Have fun in Heaven buddy. See you there one day.
