Harold Silcott Obituary

Harold Silcott, 59, of Edinburg, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015.

He was born on May 16, 1955 and was the son of the late Paul and Larue Virginia (Rush) Silcott.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dallas Cooper .

Mr. Silcott worked at Spikes Supply for over 30 years. He was a member of Masonic Hunter Lodge #135, North-South Skirmish Association, Mount Jackson Moose Lodge #979, Page Valley Sportsman Association, VFW Menás Auxillary Post # 2447, Sons of Confederate Veterans and a Life member of the NRA. He was an avid fisherman and hunter in his younger years. He enjoyed competition shooting and camping at Fort Shenandoah. He had a great work ethic and was always willing to help others. He was blessed with a family that loved him very much.

Harold is survived by his wife, Fay Nichols Silcott, whom he married on February 3, 1985; his son, Heath Silcott; stepdaughter, Mandy Rager; stepson, E. G. Seekford and his wife, Stephanie; a grandson, Christopher Taylor; step-grandchildren, Heather Seekford, Nisa Seekford, Ryan Rager and Maeghan McAlexander; great- grandchildren, Alexis, Austin, Bentley and Lane; two sisters, Paulette Bowers of Dover, DE and Sandra Painter of Newsoms, VA; a brother, Gary Silcott and his wife, Shirley of Gainesville, FL.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Valley Funeral Chapel, Bowman's Crossing. The service will be conducted by Rev. John Taylor. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6-8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Ted Lytton, Vince Poling, H.K. Golladay, Allen Fulk, Chris Gardner, Dave Comer, Bill Spiker, Randy Huffman and alternate pallbearers will be Ben Crisman and Troy Middlebrooks.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Shenandoah Animal Shelter, 268 Landfill Road, Edinburg, VA 22824.
