Richard C. Dwinell

1934 - 2013

Richard C. Dwinell, age 78, passed away peacefully in his home on Feb. 16, 2013, in Destin, Fla.
Dick was born Aug. 12, 1934, in Louisville, Ky., to Richard and Frances Dwinell. Dick graduated from Saint Joseph's College, Rensselaer, Ind., in 1956. Dick enlisted in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Wurzburg, Germany. In Germany, Dick met his loving wife of 54 years, Lilo Reiss. Dick was blessed by the births of his three children, Michele, Richard, and Janelle. Dick retired from Atlantic Mutual Insurance Company as a Regional Vice President, after over 30 years. Dick and Lilo retired to Destin, Fla., in 1994.
Dick was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoyed traveling with Lilo, reading, crossword puzzles, spending quality time with his grandchildren, and socializing with family and friends. Dick served his community at Resurrection Catholic Church, where he volunteered his time as the president of the church council, reader, and usher.
Dick is survived by his wife, Lilo Dwinell, of 54 years; brother, Lew (Sandy) Dwinell; children, Michele Dwinell, Rich (Lisa) Dwinell and Janelle (Brian) Dickerson; three grandchildren, Danielle Dickerson, Amanda Dwinell and Kaela Dwinell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (307 Beach Dr., Destin, Fla.), with the Rev. Thomas J. Guido of Resurrection Catholic Church presiding.
