Sebren Poitier Obituary

Retired MSgt. Sebren E. Poitier (P.Q.), passed away on May 11, 2017, at the age of 84. He was born on May 2, 1933, and resided the majority of his life in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Sebren (P.Q.) served over twenty-six years to his country in the United States Air Force and was a loyal member to the Sickle Cell Foundation, Boy Scouts of America, Elks Lodge #1205, VFW #7674 and the American Legion. P.Q. was also an active usher for Hurlburt Field Chapel.
P.Q. was preceded in death by his wife, Doris L. Poitier, and his son, Sebren Eugene Poitier, II.
P.Q. is survived by his daughter, April Poitier McKellar and her husband, Retired CW4 Roderick Lee McKellar; his two granddaughters, Jazmine McKellar and Amethyst McKellar Whitford; his great-grandchildren, Malakai Whitford, Campbell Whitford, and Roderika Whitford; and his sister, Lorene Broxton.
The family will receive friends at Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road, NE, Fort Walton Beach, FL, on Friday, May 19, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A celebration of Sebren's life will be held at Beulah First Baptist Church, 109 McGriff St., Fort Walton Beach, FL on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery.

I, as many others, knew him as PQ. He portrayed himself superbly. He was honest, trustworthy, dedicated, friendly, and a Godly man. He loved his base job function and gave it his all. Could not help but idolize PQ. He will be sorely missed.
