Norbert Sauers Obituary
He was born July 29, 1952, in Harvard, to Norbert W. and Edith Laurel (Nagle) Sauers.
He was chief of police in the Village of Bull Valley for 30 years.
He also was president of the Stickney House Foundation; director of the State of Illinois Local Government Health Board; and was a recipient of a Life Saving Award.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Sauers of Woodstock; his children, Shelly Sauers, Valerie McGuire, Jamie Motsinger, Shannon Damptz, Amy, Scott, and Jeff; 10 grandchildren; and two sisters, Laura Cynowa, and Mary Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant sister.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Ave., Woodstock. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Harvard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Father, it doesn't seem like 10 years have passed since you left us. I think of you everyday, and look at your pictures and my eyes instantly tear up. I miss you more and more everyday. You being at peace is what helps me understand you passing at such a young age. The pain in my heart though will always be there. I love you father.

Hi Dad. It doesn't feel like it's been 10 years. Seems like a long time, but I still break down and cry like it just happened yesterday. I don't really put how I'm feeling out there, but I wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you today.. just like I do everyday I love you.

Not one day has gone by where I have not thought about you. Every day I seem to ask for your guidance, your help, your strength or to help me heal. Somedays life is so hard without you here physically. Spiritually I do know you're here at certain times. I miss you Father and I love you. Tomorrow it will be 8 years that have passed and you were called home. I still say it's unfair why you? Maybe because it saved you from going through the pain and suffering from chemo. Only god knows I guess

Love is stronger than death even though it can't stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries it can't separate people from love. It can't take away our memories either. In the end, life is stronger than death.
One year-so hard to believe and I really don't want to! That is reality! All I know is that the world was a better place with you on it! You will never be forgotten and will always be in the hearts of the people who love you! You were one of the best people I ever had a chance to meet-so much integrity! I will always cherish our friendship, I just wish it would have been longer! We will meet again I know!

God saw he was getting tired, a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around him and whispered "Come with me." God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. RIP Norb-it's hard to believe it's been 9 months! You are still very much missed!

It has been 7 months today that you left us and hard to believe that Bull Valley has survived without you. You are thought of every day with hope that God needed your help up in Heaven more than we do here on earth.

I cried when you passed away. I cry today still. Although I loved you dearly, I couldn't make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. Chief you were a great man and a strong leader. It was my honor working for you and being a part of this fine Police Department you built. Our deepest sympathy and condolences to you all.
Norb was a special person and truly the guardian of "his people" in Bull Valley. I knew him since moving into the Village in 1986 and had the distinct honor to work with him on some Village matters. He was always looking out for what was best for the community whether it was his daily police duties, handling the snowplowing or doing random house checks when one was away on vacation. He will be missed but always remembered in Bull Valley.

I have known Norb for many, many years. He was a frequent customer at the store where I worked and he became a good friend. We loved sharing travel stories and he was always kind and compassionate during times of personal crisis. I am deeply saddened by his passing and my condolences go out to his family. Cancer sucks. :-( I have known Norb since 1985 and have spent the last 19 years at the Sheriff's department dispatching for him. We would always compare vacation travel locations. He loved cruises and I love scuba diving, so we would look forward to hearing about each others vacations and adventures. I will miss my friend and the stories we would share. Love and hugs to all of his family and friends. Rest in Peace buddy.
