John Moog Obituary

CRYSTAL LAKE – John F. Moog, 75, of Crystal Lake, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011, in Crystal Lake.
He was born Feb. 16, 1936, in Boston.
He was a frequent contributor to letters to the editor in the Northwest Herald. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and loved the Fantasy Baseball League and the friendship he had with all the league members. He was a founding member of the Crystal Lake Hockey Club. He enjoyed the ocean, a beer with friends, and talking about politics with anyone that would listen. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be missed dearly by his family; lifelong friends, Ken, Paul, Larry, Bob and Danny; and his brother-in law, Donald.
He was the beloved husband for 48 years of Marlene (Voegeli) Moog; loving father of Christine (Glenn) Gifford, Stephen (Amy) Moog and Gregory (Shylah) Moog; dear grandfather of Andrew and Bridgett Gifford, Amanda Moog, JJ Vandelaarschot and Noah Moog; and fond uncle to Michael and Alan Lunghi, Cathy Mueller and Susan Shumacker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and three sisters.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 500 Church Road, Elgin. Interment will be private. Fellowship and luncheon will follow the service at the church.

Jack was a wonderful person and will be missed. I had the pleasure to work for Jack for few summers painting houses. He entertained us while we painted by singing along to the oldies on the radio. What a guy! Our thoughts are with the Moog family.

Jack will always be remembered by us for his love of his family, his extreme intelligence, his good sense of humor. He was a mentor to many young men, including our son Jeff. What a wonderful person he was.
