MAY 10
"GOLLEY"
IT'S ONE WEEK SINCE WE HAVE SAID GOOD BYE TO OUR FRIEND JOE AND CELEBRATED HIS LIFE.

SOME OF OUR BEST TIMES WITH PEG AND JOE WERE SPENT TOGETHERE ON FRIDAY AFTERNOONS VOLUNTEERING FOR THE YOUTH MINISTREIES. WE CALLED IT WORK BUT IT WAS MORE LIKE FUN FOR US. THERE WERE FIVE OF US JOE, PEGGT, LUCY, CLARICE AND ME. WE DID BUSY WORK. PUTTING HOLES IN PAPERS, CUTTING PAPER, STAPLING AND COLATING AND LAMINATING. AND SORTING MAIL BY ZIP CODE'S. THIS WAS JOE'S SPECIALITY. ALL THE TIME WE WERE DOING THIS CHATTING, SINGING AND TELLING STORIES. JOE WOULD GOME UP WITH OFF THE WALL SONGS. SUCH AS "MAR-ZY DOTES" THEN WE WOULD JOIN IN. ONE DAY HE ASKED US IF WE KNEW "ALEXANDER THE SWOOSE" WE , OF COURSE ACCUSED HIM OF MAKING IT UP. BUT DARN IF HIS SON, EDMOND, DIDN'T FIND IT ON THE INTER-NET. OF COURSE PROVING JOE TO BE RIGHT, AGAIN !!!

THERE IS ONE MORE ANGEL IN HEAVEN AND ONE EMPTY CHAIR IN THE CHURCH BASMENT.
BECAUSE NO ONE CAN EVER REPLACE OUR "JOE"

Peggy,
I was so sorry to hear about Joe's passing. He always had a smile for me and made me feel welcome at St. Mary's when I was new to the parish and felt invisible. I enjoyed our sessions when counting the collection money. He was pretty good at guessing about how much was there! I am so sorry for your loss. Joe will be missed by many. He was a good man! I hope he'll put in a few good words for me with God! My prayers are with you.

Mr. Manning was an inspiration to all students by what he taught and by his example in life. He had such personal discipline and expected the same of his students. I am so grateful to have visited with him at my 40th class reunion. Bless his memory.

Peggy and all the Manning Children, I am at such a loss for words. My deepest sympathy to all of you, and a giant HUG. I certainly always thought the world of Joe. Over the years we had many, many good times. I remember Joe learning how to play "Send in the Clowns" and played it well, to boot. So many other thoughts about going to grad school at Northern and how he teased me about my 8-track player. How can anyone forget his "dry" humor? Oh what a loss. I will keep him and all of you in my prayers. I wish I could be there. Unfortunately, I am in the Isle of Palms outside of Charleston, S.C. with 11 of my college classmates. Sorry that I can not be there. My thoughts are with you.

Dear Peggy & Family
We are praying for you all at this difficult time. I will always remember Joe as a perfect Christian who devoted his life to serving Our Lord, At the same time he was a devoted husband & father who loved his family with all of his heart. He was a great teacher, athletic dirtector, coach , school bus driver , maintenance worker & truck driver; Amazingly he did all of these things with a wonderful smile and all for the love of his God & Family. Heaven received a Great Man on Divine Mercy Sunday. I am certain that when Joe met Almighty God face to face, he was told, "Well Done My Good and Failtful Servant"
we love you
