Mary Miller Obituary

McHENRY – Mary C. Miller, 78, a longtime resident of Woodstock, died Monday, April 25, 2011, at Centegra Hospital – McHenry.

She was born June 27, 1932, in Long Island, N.Y., to John and Catherine (Malloy) Hannigan.

After finishing high school, she came to Chicago to pursue a nursing career, obtaining her nursing degree from St. Vincent's school of pediatrics. Also a 10-year resident of Des Plaines, she worked as a mechanical draftsmen for La Marche Manufacturing.

She loved spending time with her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as cooking and baking for them.

She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Woodstock. She was a wonderful and loving woman who enjoyed helping anyone she could.

She is survived by her two sons, Lawrence (Mary Jo) Miller of Crystal Lake and Robert Miller of Wonder Lake; her five grandchildren, Cassandra (Robert) Helfvogt of Lake Geneva, Katherine, Allison, Jolene and Jarrett Miller, all of Crystal Lake; and five great-grandchildren, Kelsey, William, Emma, Johnny and Matthew, all of Lake Geneva.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Miller; and her parents, John and Catherine (Malloy) Hannigan.

The family will have a full Mass celebration at 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, St. Mary's Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Ave., Woodstock.

Her family would like to say goodbye with a private graveside service in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Kidney Foundation at www.Kidney.org in her name.
