"Aunt Loretta" was my Aunt Mickey's friend who became my Girl Scout pen pal for many years. Oh, how I wish I would have saved some of her letters! As a yong girl I remember an occasional dinner at the Milk Pail and a picnic or two in her yard on Oak St. Warm memories of a warm and wonderful lady!! My thoughts and prayers to her family.

What a treasure it is to read these messages in Loretta's Guest Book, and get a peek into her life! She touched the hearts of many around her leaving us cherished memories and better people for her loving us! From Illinois, Georgia, Washingon, Texas, one coast to the other, we loved Loretta & she loved us.

Dear sweet Loretta. She was my very first friend as a young worker just out of high school. We worked together at Dudley Lock Corporation. When Dudley moved to Florida, Loretta and I went with them to train the new office employees. Her sweet Mom went with us. We were there for a month and had the best time. We had many nice visits together over the years and many Canasta games during the Dudley years. I shall always remember and love her.

"Aunt" Loretta was a long time friend of my mother and was in more ways than one a true member of our family. Our annual "pilgrimage's" for Easter, the 4th of July, and Thanksgiving were events I always looked forward to. Aunt Loretta had a very special way of making us feel like royalty for each visit and always had a warm and wonderful smile and hug for us. As age and distance grew us apart, Aunt Loretta ALWAYS remembered us with cards and special encouraging words. She we always be remembered as a loyal friend, kind person, and one of the most gentle / humble person I will ever know. Aunt Loretta may not have known, but she was a true mentor to me and for that I am grateful, and I will carry on her "legacy" to my children.
May God give you a special peace / Joy Aunt Loretta, as you have shared your peace and joy with us.

Loretta was a first cousin to my mother-in-law, Marcella Zgoda (Kelly). I haven't seen her in many years, but remember that she was a sweet, gentle woman with a welcoming smile. I know she was very devoted to her family and her faith. She always wrote a lovely note in her Christmas card. She lived her life with humility and grace. She was an inspiration to all whose lives she touched. Rest in Peace, dear Lorreta.

Loretta was a member in the 1950s Crystal Lake Writer's Club. They would meet at various member's homes and share poems, stories they had written. Beginning when I was 4, I would be able to stay up late just to answer the door for them. Loretta always had a smile and laughed a lot which always amazed me! At 5, I delivered a Valentine to her door on Oak Street, rang the bell, and did as my school song said; "run run run!" She.looked to see who was there but mother & I were hiding in the bushes! We jumped out with a "Surprise!" shout and all had a good laugh and hot cup of tea! When mother passed away, Loretta remembered us with a lovely card. Such a dear, sweet, happy, pretty lady. She was an example to us all.
