ALLEN V. HATCH, JR. LOWELL, IN
Allen V. Hatch, Jr., age 60, of Lowell, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Kathleen (nee Major); brother, Henry Hatch of Crown Point; sisters: Frances Hatch of AR and Kim Holmes of Rensselaer, IN; special caregivers: Susie Baker and Kim Coleman; many nieces and nephews; and special buddies: Zoey and Indy. Preceded in death by his mother, Betty; father, Allen; and brother, Eugene. Allen was a retired Sergeant on the Lake County Police Department. He was a member and past president for three years of F.O.P. Chris Anton Lodge #125. Allen was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School, Class of 1969, and attended Indiana University Northwest and Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA). He unselfishly discontinued taking his own multiple sclerosis medications for two years in order to participate in the testing of a new drug for the treatment of MS, hoping to help find a cure for other MS sufferers. Allen loved his Rottweilers and John Wayne. Family and friends may call at Pruzin & Little Funeral Service, 811 E. Franciscan Dr. (located on St. Rd. 55 south of St. Rd. 231), Crown Point on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. from Pruzin & Little Chapel and 10:00 a.m. from Divine Providence Polish National Catholic Church (269 West 57th Avenue, Merrillville) with Rev. I would like to express my condolences to you and your loved ones. I went to high school with Al and he was a good friend. As many of us went different paths I still bumped into him now and then always fond memories of the old days.I am out of the country at this time our I would personally epress my sympathy. Our condolences and prayers to Kathy. Al was a great guy, dedicated police officer and all around decent person.I have fond memories of our time together in karate, serving serving warrants, social get togethers, and playing with our dogs. He is at peace with the angels in heaven.
