Lloyd W. Steinke

LLOYD W. STEINKE LaCROSSE, IN Lloyd W. Steinke, age 91, of LaCrosse, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at home in the same farm house in which he was born on March 16, 1919 to Emil T. and Lillian B. (Mann) Steinke. Lloyd spent his entire lifetime tending the fields and livestock on the acreage surrounding his family's homestead which dates back to 1855. His fierce determination in accomplishing all of the daily duties on the farm served him and his family well through nine decades of dedication. Lloyd was an avid sportsman and spent his leisure hours outdoors hunting, fishing, and enjoying nature. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Wanatah, Wanatah Conservation Club and the LaPorte County Conservation Council. On March 9, 1946 in New Carlisle, Lloyd married Helen Mae Wimer who survives along with their children: Donald (Georgette) Steinke of Kouts, Susan Mae (Randy) Crim of DeMotte, and Donna (Harry) McCorkel of LaCrosse; grandchildren: Shannon (Derek) Mitchell, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Steinke, Daniel (Leah) Crim, Richard (Janet) Crim, Rebecca (Tom) Burns, Jennifer (Carlos) Serra, and Nicholas Bielinski; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Lou Cartha A. Leyden. Following cremation, a memorial visitation will be held Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Wanatah Funeral Chapel, 309 N.
