EUGENE S. STEIN LANSING, IL Eugene S. Stein, age 82 of Lansing, IL, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 27, 2016. He is survived by two daughters: Marcia (late Dan) Hillegonds and Jennifer (Adam) Carper; three grandchildren; Jessica Campbell and twins Hope and Hayley Carper; and sister: Rita Pankowski. Mr. Stein was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Judith in January, 2015; parents: August and Helen Stein; and sister: Bernadine Rydlewski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3010 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL. Friends are invited to visit with Mr. Stein's family on Sunday, October 30 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL, and again on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann Church prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Stein's name to America Legion Post 330 in Calumet City, IL. Mr. Stein Honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from American Steel Foundries after 44 years of service and was a member of the American Legion Post 330 in Calumet City.
