PAUL WINEINGER HOBART, IN
Paul Wineinger, a longtime resident of Hobart, passed away Friday, August 12, 2011 in Orland Park, IL. Paul was the adoring and loving husband of 63 years to the late Clara (nee Vacklavik). Paul is survived by his daughter, Judith L. Wilson of Lockport, IL; and two grandchildren: Terri (Michael) Wilhite and Douglas (Brandy) Wilson. Paul is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Eugene (Betty) Wineinger, Clarence Wineinger, Leroy (Clarice) Wineinger, Marvin (Margaret) Wineinger, Betty Carns and Fern Goodwin. He was preceded in death by one brother, Floyd Wineinger. Paul was born on July 27, 1921 in Cuzco, IN to the late Levi and Olive Wineinger. He moved to Hobart in his teenage years and graduated from Hobart High School, where he played basketball. He served his country in WWII in the U.S. Army. Paul was a lifetime member of the Hobart VFW Post 5365 and a member of the Hammond American Legion Post 17. He retired from U.S. Steel, where he worked as a Millwright for over 40 years. He was an owner of race horses and was an avid bowler. Paul very much enjoyed golfing at Indian Ridge Golf Course in Hobart as well as traveling to locations such as Myrtle Beach for golf vacations. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Paul's honor may be made to the Hobart VFW Post 5365, 540 South Linda Street, Hobart, IN. A memorial service for Paul will be Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home and Cremation service, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. A memorial visitation will be just prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a 10:30 a.m. VFW service at the funeral home. Call (219) 942-2109 or online at www.Reesfuneralhomes.com
