JOSEPH H. PACHNIK AURORA, IL FORMERLY OF GRIFFITH, IN
Joseph H. Pachnik, of Aurora, IL, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2012. He was born September 13, 1926 in Ojibwe, WI to Stanley and Anna (Gwozdz) Pachnik. Joe spent his early youth in Radisson, WI and graduated high school from Winter, WI. He served one tour of duty in the U.S. Navy in WWII, with action in both the European and Pacific theaters of war. He also served a tour of duty with the Seabees (U.S. Navy) during the Korean conflict. Joe was a graduate from the Aeronautical University in Chicago with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering. He was a (KC) Kentucky Colonel. Joe spent 40 years in the field of transportation; 14 years with several trucking companies, 10 years as Traffic Manager with U.S. Steel Supply; and 16 years with Abbott Laboratories as Corporate Traffic and Fleet Manager, and Manager of Sales & Marketing for CMM Transportation (a wholly owned subsidiary of Abbott Laboratories). Joe married Teddy J. Clark on June 18, 1966 in Chicago, IL. They resided in the Chicago area until his retirement in 1989 and moved to Hot Springs Village in 1991. They returned to Aurora, IL in 2012. Joe was an avid golfer, a volunteer with the St. Joseph Senior Network and a volunteer with the Hot Springs Forest Service Ranger Station. He was also a member of the VFW and a member of Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church. He was an active Mason since 1963 and a member of Whittington Lodge #365 in Hot Springs. He was a member of Hot Springs Village Shrine Club, a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite, and a Shriner with the Sahara Shriner Temple. Joe is survived by his wife, Teddy; a daughter, Elaine Pachnik of IN; a son Gregory Pachnik of WI; and a stepdaughter, Lynn (Tim) Biernat of IL; four grandchildren: Carl (Cathy) Davis, Janel Davis, Terry (Melissa) Biernat, and Robin Biernat all of IL; also great granddaughters: Hannah Catherine Davis and Markayla Biernat; four great grandsons: Shawn Davis, Josh, Ayden and Jacob Biernat; a brother, Chester (Martha) Pachnik of MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters: Josephine Pesice, Olga Lucich, Sophie Pachnik, Rose Pachnik, and Helen Helland; and four brothers: Stanley, Edward, Ben, and Frank Pachnik. Per Joe's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation was accorded his wishes. Arrangements were entrusted to the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Teddy: So sorry to hear about Joe's passing. He was a great guidance to me and many others. He helped me in the beginning of my management career. I will inform his many friends in the Calumet Traffic Club of his passing. Many of the old timers ask about him.
