Lester Grassmyer Obituary

LESTER E. GRASSMYER VALPARAISO, IN
Lester Earl Grassmyer, 91 of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2012. He was born February 26, 1921 in Monticello, IN, the son of Elisha and Flora L. (Franklin) Grassmyer. Lester was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, from 1942 to 1945, serving with Company C, 340 th U.S. Army Engineers, Construction Battalion, serving in the Pacific Theater constructing the Alaskan Yukon Highway. He was a lineman with NIPSCO for 36 years and a member of local 12775 of the United Steelworkers. On May 14, 1955 he married Juanita Irene Hise, who passed away in 1983. Surviving are: his son, Ronald Grassmyer; stepson, Michael Hise and stepdaughter-in-law, Carolyn Hise of Valparaiso; grandchildren: Carmella (Jason) West and Tonya (Charles) Ray; and great grandchildren: Nina, Elida, and Arlis. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters; three brothers; and his parents. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St., Valparaiso with Pastor Mike Eddy officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Visitation will be Monday, October 15, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bartholomew Funeral Home.
