Kenneth DeWinter Obituary
Kenneth R. DeWinter, Sr. age 96, passed from life on March 18, 2013. He was born in Chicago, IL, and most recently a resident of Lansing, Illinois. Ken was a WW II U.S. Navy veteran, a longtime member of the Pipefitters Union Local 597, was the owner of Suburban Piping and Tank Installers and life member of the Lake Calumet Boat and Gun Club. He was an avid fisherman and also a designer of handmade lighted holiday displays. You only had to meet him once to appreciate his wonderful sense of humor. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Jean (Wilke); eight children: Patricia (the late William) Wujcik of Chicago Ridge IL, Marilyn (James) Saunders of Abaco, Bahamas, Susan Luchini of Kankakee, IL, Janice (Donald) Licata of Orland Park, IL, Pamela Golder of Munster, IN, Jacqueline (Timothy Sr.) North of Appling, GA, Kenneth Jr. of Mesa, AZ, and Richard (Angela) of Chandler, AZ. He was grandfather of 19; great grandfather of 33; and great-great grandfather of three. Preceded in death by two brothers: Lawrence and Warren. Visitation will be Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home; 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL on Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Interment will be on Friday, March 22, at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memorial Park, 25100 S Governors Hwy, Monee, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Illinois Veteran's Home in Manteno, IL. The family wishes to thank all of the wonderful medical professionals that have cared for him during his illness. Your kindness and caring have made a difference.
