Sorry to hear of the passing of the nicest and kindest lady I have ever met. I met her and Wally back in 1995 when I sold their home on Sanibel. I had several dealings with Mary Lee since then and will always remember the times we would sit and visit. Matter of fact I am writing this from Wally's desk that she gave me. I think of them often and they will be missed. I can honestly say they are the two nicest people I have ever met.

We were saddened to hear of you mother's passing. My mother and I catered dinner parties for your mother and father. Your mother was a joy to work for and we could see her love of family and friends.
We were not surprised to read all that your mother did to make
our communities a better place. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the Mary Lee Dayton' Family,
My parents (Frederick & Inez Deming) knew Mary Lee and her husband quite well. My folks introduced them to me as had a nice chat with each other. When my folks arrived in Sanibel (Snowbirds) as your folks also came down for the Winter. I met Mary Lee at the beach with Wally to find these seashells. She always beat me to find these beautiful sheshells. I really enjoy with Mary Lee and Wally very much. She had been very active Westminster Presbyterian Church and a very valuable assets to the Board of Trustees at Macalister College in St. Paul.
I came to Minneapolis on Wednesday, August 28th, from Baltimore for the conference and to attend 55th Marshall-University High School Reunion. Great time!
Rest in peace, Mary.

Please convey my sympathy and condolences to the entire family, for I have many friends in the family. Dr. Arnold Lowe, Grace Dayton and all of her sons, Sally (helped in our office one summer and I saw her at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York while she was at Vassar). Mary Lee had a great life, and we are all better people because we knew her. Donn G. Mosser, M.D.

Mary Lee was a strong force for good in our community. I so admired her devotion to Wally's causes as well as her own. Our paths crossed many times; it was a privilege to know her. Her presence as a gracious and wise leader will remain alive in the many organizations she influenced so generously. Warmest thoughts to her family as they mourn her loss and celebrate her life and work.

What a wonderful woman Mary Lee was. Her contributions to Minnesota were unbelievable. I had the privilege of caring for the children in their "growing up" years. My heartfelt sympathies go to Sally, Kate, Elly and Betsy.
