ROBERT SAVIN Obituary

SAVIN--Robert S., 89, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, formerly of Mamaroneck, NY, passed away December 18th from Alzheimer's Disease. He was born and raised in Bridgeport, CT, was an US Army Veteran, and married in July 1951 to Barbara Low. In 1954 he joined his father-in-law Max M. Low at IPCO, a multi health care company where he eventually became its CEO. He also sat on the board of SAVIN Corporation. Bob became active in many charities, amongst them the United Hebrew Geriatric Center of New Rochelle, where he served as a past president and trustee. He and his family were donors there of the Low Savin Residence, an assisted living facility. He also worked tirelessly for the American Friends of the Hebrew University,which awarded him the coveted Scopus Award in 1983. For many years he co chaired with Howard Cosell the annual Sports Dinner held in memory of the 11 slain Israeli Olympians. In addition he was a founder of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, The Hebrew University in Jerusalem as well as the Truman Peace Institute. After leaving corporate life Bob became involved in Park City, Utah, where he bought and developed Z Place, an entertainment Center that for many years was the headquarters for the Sundance Film Festival. He was one of the first homeowners at the Stein Erikson Lodge in Deer Valley, where he spent many hours skiing, his favorite sport. In addition to his wife Barbara of 63 years, he is survived by his two loving children, Debi (Steve) Scoggan of Park City Utah, Scott of Santa Monica CA. and two adoring grandchildren Skyler and Scarlett Scoggan. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, December 23rd 11am, at Glenville Cemetery, 99 Memory Lane, Greenwich, CT For directions call 914- 967-4908 or WJC 914-698-2960.
