MARGARET FAGENSON Obituary
Levine. Passed away unexpectedly on January 26th. A graduate of the Fieldston School in 1966 and cum laude from Syracuse University in 1970. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She had a zest for life and was devoted to all those she held dear. She was a spirited supporter of the ASPCA here in New York and the Humane Society of St Thomas in the Virgin Islands, volunteering in the kitten nursery in recent months and reading to abused dogs bringing them the calm and peace she felt they deserved. A fitness devotee she was in excellent physical shape and loved playing tennis and going to the U.S. Open matches. Margaret took joy in her daughters, Stephanie and Jennifer, and was never happier than spending time with her granddaughter, Sophie. Margaret leaves behind her loving husband of 45 years, Robert. Their love and devotion began in high school and has lasted a lifetime. Margie, as she was known in her younger days, loved her toy poodles. She still missed Gizmo who passed nine years ago after 18 years traveling the world with her and Robert. Smokey and Bandit will wonder why "Mommy" has not come home to them. Services on Monday, January 30th 11:00am at Frank E. Campbell, 1076 Madison Avenue at 81st Street. Burial will follow at Westchester Hills Cemetery, Ardsley, New York. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday evening at Frank E. Campbell from 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations should to be made to the ASPCA in New York City or the Humane Society of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

To the Fagenson Family,
I don't know you, but I read about Margaret's passing on the Internet today, and I was particularly saddened because Margaret and I are just a few years apart and she loved animals as much as I do. For many years I have rescued dogs and cats and have given them a home.
I think all life in this world is a manifestation of a divine spirit, and that the divinity that gives us life gives life to the animals that dwell among us. Animals are eternal beings just as we are, and their soul shines just as bright as our own. I know that Margaret is truly blessed because of her great love for animals, and that she is at peace.
Someday I will thank Margaret in heaven for helping animals here on earth.
In the meantime, I will share these words by the poet Rumi with you: "When I
die I will soar with angels. When I die to the angels, what I shall become
you cannot imagine."
