My wife Charlotte and I would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to you all in this difficult time. I grew up on Chestnut Avenue and had an Uncle in the Pelham public schools so we feel that we knew Ruth well. My father grew tomatoes for her and they were close neighbors. I grew up on Chestnut Avenue and we were fortunate to reengaged with Ruth as a young adult after my father, Lee Huston, passed away and my new bride and I moved to Oak Avenue to start a family. We were an occasional stop on her walking path and again fortunate to get to know her much better then - I was 8 the first time I met her so had a tough time following her insistence I call her Ruth. She was a lovely, special woman whom we will miss. I remember well that she and my father were both born in 1923. Kindred spirits from another era.
