Bea had intelligence, wit and talent with people. I was honored to know her even just a little bit. Whenever she came to visit in the knitting store, we were allowed some bits of light. She was so proud of her family!

Bea Nasaw remained my favorite and most memorable teacher throughout my life. I was in her 5th grade class along with Jayne Danska, Jimmy Margolin (my husband), Jeri Cohen, Amy Gross, Kenny Gomez (1966). I have the most vivid memories of her, the songs we sang, books we read, trips we went on, and what we learned. She was the genuine article and I feel so privileged to have known her. My condolences to her family and please let us know when the memorial service will be held. Nancy Friedman and Jim Margolin (NYC) [email protected]; 212-228-1500

I had the honor of teaching with Bea at the East Hills School in Roslyn. She was an exceptional teacher and treasured friend. After the evening music concerts at school Bea would open her home to us and we'd all have a wonderful time. Bea also enjoyed playing 'matchmaker' and introduced me to her contractor, Alfred Boehler (who lived at 44 East Broadway). We have been married for 28 years. I will miss walking around the duck pond and stopping by to visit Bea. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and always spoke of their accomplishments. Bea was truly one of 'the greatest generation' the likes of which we will never see again! Conversations with Bea were always interesting and fun. Her knowledge of life was so diverse! I am so glad her children had her write her life story and bound it in a book. I will miss her beautiful eyes, contagious laugh, and generosity of spirit. Rest in peace my beloved friend. Always from my heart, with love for you....

I saw Bea's obit in the N.Y. Times yesterday and a flood of memories came back ... first of being a student in her fifth grade class - with Jayne - and then of the many happy times I spent at her home with Liz. I too did not know that Liz had passed away.
I am grateful for the time I spent with both of them, and my years in the Roslyn community, which were some of the best years of my life.
If any of my Roslyn friends want to get in touch with me to share memories, email me at [email protected]

Bea is forever in my heart and mind. I am one of her many devoted and adoring 5th grade students, and the daughter of her Roslyn Heights School colleagues Lorraine (Triquere) Danska. The energy and feel of her classroom, her creativity balanced with discipline and devotion to words, deeds and ideas greatly informed me as a scholar and person. I continue to measure all of my daughter's primary school teachers by Bea's standard even if they don't teach in their stocking feet.
My condolences and best wishes to David, Jonathan (don't know if they will remember me) and their children. I have also just learned of Liz's early passing several years ago and send also my condolences for her loss. She was a wonderful classmate and friend in these incredibly important years.

I was also in Mrs Nasaw's 6th grade class in '72. She is my favorite teacher of all time! - Happily, she became a close part of my family growing up and shared her love of life and learning (and knitting), with me. Hopefully I have passed this legacy onto my own children - Bea will live forever in the hearts and minds of everyone who had the privilege to cross her path. I will truly miss her! :'(

Bea Nasaw was my 6th grade teacher in Roslyn back in 1972. She was one of my favorite teachers of all and always encouraged me in the years that followed. She left her mark on many of my friends. It's been 28 years since that class and it still is a fresh memory due to her enthusiasm. She will be missed.
