I also remember Bill as a friend and classmate of my father, Richard F. Wolfson. My father admired and respected Bill deeply, both personally and professionally.
I particularly recall a weekend when my family was invited to Cornwall when we watched the bicentenary fireworks on an ancient black and white TV. Just perfect.
My warmest condolences to Jean and the family.

I remember Bill as a wonderful friend of my dad, Jerry Kohlberg's. One summer on the vineyard my sister Pam and I were swimming and as the waves got heftier and heftier only Bill realized we were really in trouble and got us out. I have always felt he saved my life and I am ever grateful. I am glad it sounds like he had such a wonderful (& long) life, and I send you, his family, my greatest sympathy, it sounds like he will be greatly missed. May you find peace and strength in his memory and love. Sincerely Karen Kohlberg Davis

Bill was a friend, colleague and mentor. One could not fail but learn from his penetrating intellect, which came through with his his unique courtliness and grace. He will be remembered with respect and admiration by all whom he touched.

An amazing man unparalleled in his wit, intellect, sensibility, judgment and caring - who made more of an impression than he could ever appreciate on those around him. Sending our love to all the Nimkins and Rabys, Winnie and Jeffrey

My heart and best thoughts go out to the Nimkins. Bill was a wonderful man, it was a pleasure and privilege to know him. I remember he loved Kojack and birding and music and running in Central Park--- very early in the morning! Rest in peace, Bill. It was great knowing you!
