DAVID LUBELL Obituary

LUBELL--David G., beloved family man, died on May 11. David was deeply devoted to his three daughters, Donna Underwood, Lisa Lubell and Claudia Ewing, three sons-in-law, eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. David and his adored wife Doris would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this June. David was born in the Bronx on November 9, 1929, ten minutes before his identical twin brother Jonathan. David's advocacy for social justice began at Dewitt Clinton High School and continued throughout his lifetime. David graduated from Harvard Law School Magna Cum Laude in 1954. Blacklisted during the McCarthy era while at Harvard, David invoked the fifth amendment of the U.S. constitution when called before the Jenner subcommittee. Throughout his career, he represented individuals and organizations dedicated to social change and the expansion of human rights. David was recognized as one of the most influential entertainment and media lawyers in the United States. He was committed to supporting and mentoring socially active creative professionals. David also represented prominent personalities as an expert in entertainment law and intellectual property rights. David treasured spending time with his daughters and their families. His unique sense of humor was appreciated by all generations. David was enamored by and supportive of Doris' career as a recognized artist and art therapist. He was an avid sports fan and had a special place in his heart for the NY Yankees. David is pre-deceased by his parents and his brother Bennett and his wife.
