Dennis Dalrymple Obituary

DALRYMPLE--Dennis M., died Thursday, March 5, in New York City of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was 67. He is survived by his wife, Jamie Raab, and their children, Ian and Lola Dalrymple. In a forty year career in book publishing as a literary contracts expert, he consulted with hundreds of authors, publishers and literary agents and worked for many publishing companies, including Warner Books where he met his wife, who is currently Publisher of Grand Central Publishing. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa to Dwight Dalrymple and Bette Rasche, and grew up in Sarasota, Florida, before moving to New York. A longtime anti-war activist who never met a war he wasn't prepared to protest, Dennis was a founding member of the Youth International Party (Yippies), and at the 1968 Democratic Convention nominated Pigasus the Pig for President. Mr. Dalrymple was an avid news junkie, an expert cook, a loyal friend, and, above all, a devoted husband and father. Mr. Dalrymple is also survived by his sister, Sandra Scanlan; his stepmother, Marion Dalrymple; his four half sisters Jennifer Heit, Julie Rexford, Jere Gilbert and Jane Murphy. A memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 19th at 4pm at Judson Memorial Church, 55 Washington Square South.
