My path changed when I met Eddie, as we called him. It became sprinkled with luck from one advice he gave me. As did reading his first draft inspired on my path as a writer. He was full of life and caring for his adopted community of Roaring River in Jamaica. Places I've been and things I've achieved were all because of him. Thank you my friend for this amazing journey as was yours. Missing you my Mentor & Friend.

I want to convey the condolences of my dad, Larry Birns, as well as myself on Eddie's untimely passing. He was a great bon vivant, incredibly learned, popular with so many different individuals and groups, and cared deeply about the Caribbean and about the causes of freedom and social justice.

Ed was exuberant, a life force, a spinner of stories, warm, and a nice man to know.
