Dear Chris and Roddy
Reading Emily's blog entries over the past months gave me a chance to come to know a truly exceptional person whose writing provided inspiration, laughter and tremendous insight.
I needn't tell you what a gift in Emily you gave the world.
You and Emily's three boys are in our thoughts and prayers.

Emily and I were friends during a summer we both spent in Sun Valley Idaho. I only knew her a brief time but we shared great times and she left me with lasting memories. I wish her friends and family the best during these difficult times.

I just received the letter from Millbrook with the sad news of Emily's passing. We were childhood friends growing up in Bedford, NY and went to Whitby and Millbrook at the same time. I have fond memories of walking through the swamp to Emily's house, riding our ponies together, and spending time with her wonderful family. I also remember going ice skating with her at Campfire Club.
Sadly we didn't stay in touch after high school. It was wonderful to read about the wonderful life she went on to have and the impact she has made on those around her. I wish I had known that she settled in SLC because I live in Colorado.
My heartfelt condolences go out to her family and especially to her two sons.

As an old friend from UVA and Fishers Island I was shocked to read about Emily in the recent Foghorn but as so many others have noted she was quite obviously a woman who squeezed several normal lifetimes into her sharply curtailed years with us. My deepest heartfelt prayers and sympathies are with the entire family.

Dear Emily's Family, I met Emily in Charlotte's yoga class. It was fun to be next to her in class. We would try to stifle our laughter as our legs shook! Emily impressed me as fun, so bright, loyal, genuine, caring, and a lover of people and animals. I see that since I left SLC, her life was filled with more people to love. Very Sincerely,

I'd met Emily, but didn't know her well. What I remember of her was a bubbly personality and huge smile. As a single mom of 2 young boys living in Park City, who lost my husband to ALS 3 years ago - I have deep and sincere empathy for your family. Her loss will always be felt, and her legacy will live on in Liam and Mason. My heart goes out to you.

I interviewed for the chance to nanny for Mason and Liam soon after Emily's 40th birthday. Most women dread another birthday, but not Emily. Every year, every day was a celebration of the life with which she had been blessed. Thank you for teaching me to be grateful for every day, Emily. Your friendship and love will be missed. Our lives have been abundantly blessed because of the love Shawn and I feel for and have received from your family. The legacy of your love will live on through your husband and beautiful boys. We love you Emily.

Emily clerked for Judge McKay a few years after I did and my wife and I met her during one of our periodic return visits with the Judge. She immediately earned a place in our hearts because she was just so darned friendly and fun to be around and although I think that was the only time we met her, over the years we have both had occasion to bring her name up and to remember her. Our sincere condolences to her family and friends - she'll be missed even by those who barely knew her.
