NEDWYN VISELTEAR Obituary

VISELTEAR--Nedwyn, 1936 -2013, was born in the Bronx to what would now be considered a dysfunctional family. He found solace in a neighborhood filled with zany and irreverent characters. It was there in the verbally aggressive language of the street that he honed his timing and emerged with a sharp wit and fall-down funny sense of humor. Possessing a high IQ and a reputation as a wordsmith, he established himself in the ad business, as an award winning writer, a creative director, a partner in his own agency and having his exploits chronicled by his friend, advertising guru, Jerry Della Femina. He loved jazz and had an extensive record collection. He was the personification of "the man about town" for his time. Attractive, charming, well read, impeccably dressed, with a groovy pad on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and the best stereo system that anyone had ever heard. He was married briefly and had no children. Despite his troubles, he always managed to live life on his terms. He leaves a brother, a sister-in-law and a whole lot of family and friends who loved him. He will forever be too hip for the room. He was the best Ned we knew.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Nedwyn. He was quite the character, extremely inteligent, knew his art and music. Have not sen him in a while and wondered how he was doing. Peace to you and to him as well. From Joseph and all the guys at Infinity Records.

My life was brushed and brightened by the glow of Ned. He helped me to think and laugh. He also helped me to look at the world at arm's length as an artist does before painting. He was a positive influence and I'm left with smiles of the time we spent together.

It's not an overstatement to say that they broke the mold with Ned. I knew him since I was a little girl, and when I grew up to be a copywriter, he was the perfect combination of supportive, helpful, and brutally honest about what was in store for me. (And he was right!) He also had the best art in his apartment and wow, that music system. He will be missed.

Ned was a friend for over thirty years and a partner for six of them. His humor and fun will always be a part of me. I loved him.

My memories are that of a childhood friend with the same name who lived in the Bronx. I believe we went to PS 70 together. He lived just off the grand Concourse and I think it was on the first floor of the building around approximately 176 Street right near Wade Junior high school. I remember him as a very nice person, bright, creative with a fun personality. I don't remember too much else other than he was a very talented artist. I seem to recall, hopefully correctly, that he used it the very skilled at sketching World War II airplanes. The last time I probably saw him last no later than 1948.

Martin thought that you stood out as a bright star in our family as do I. Rest easy. Your cousin, Gloria Sharf Boris

I am so sorry for the loss of your dear brother. May memories of Ned bring peace to your heart. May God bring strength and comfort. (Psalm 147:3)
