WILLIAM KISSICK Obituary

KISSICK--Dr. William Lee, age 81, died peacefully in Denver, Colorado on June 30, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 29th, 1932. He earned his B.A., M.D., Master's of Public Health and PhD from Yale University. He served in the US Public Health Service, under Presidents Kennedy and Johnson. Dr. Kissick was one of two physicians who drafted the Medicare Act (1965). Following that, he was the George Seckel Pepper Professor of Medicine for the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine. Dr. Kissick was a lifelong Yale supporter, serving as Fellow of the Yale Corporation from 1987-1993. For his distinguished service to Yale, he was awarded the Yale Medal (1996). He is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla Dillingham Kissick, and his children; Will, Rob, Jon and Liz and her husband Brad, and grandchildren; Carrie Kissick, Eliza Kissick, Emma Richards and Samuel Richards. There will be a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Dr. William Kissick M.D. Scholarship Fund at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, 3620 Locust Walk, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
