GERALDINE FRIEDMAN

FRIEDMAN--Geraldine (Gerry) Gewirtz, 89, died suddenly and peacefully at her Manhattan home, July 3. The widow of prominent surgeon, Dr. Eugene Friedman, she became a pre-eminent journalist in the jewelry, watch, fashion and table top fields. She was a founder of the Women's Jewelry Association. A graduate of Vassar College, her interests included the health field where she served on the Board of Mt. Sinai's Martha Stewart Wellness Center. She is survived by her sons John and Robert of New York, their wives, Jane Furse Friedman, and Dr. Elissa Gretz Friedman, and four devoted granddaughters, Elizabeth, Meredith, Kathryn and Caroline. Funeral service at Central Synagogue, Lexington Ave. and 55th St. Wednesday, July 7 at 10:30am.
