LOUISE STERN Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 19, 2012.
STERN--Louise B. Those who knew and loved her record, with poignant sadness, the passing of Louise Stern in the One Hundred First year of her life. Wife of the late Rabbi Malcolm H. Stern, noted genealogist and historian of the American Jewish experience, Louise was not only a glorious companions to her beloved but, in her own right, a woman of many accomplishments. With intellectual curiosity and writing talent, she was able to articulate insights and understandings that were often unique and singular. With her vivacious personality, she brought delight and surprise to virtually every occasion. Her life was long and by her own admission richly blessed. She will be fondly remembered by all, both family and friends, who were privileged to know and love her. Interment private

I am saddened to read of this loss. My sincere condolences to any family. I was privileged to have known her and Malcolm through Ktav, where I worked, the CCAR, and through the Jewish Historical Society of New York where Malcolm was president and I was vice president for many years and where she came for many, many of our regular meetings. I was privileged to have visited in their home a few times. Her wise comments and contributions were always wonderful and welcome. May her memory be for a blessing. Irving Ruderman

Louise and Malcolm were guiding lights to me in my younger years. Both Howard and I will always remember their support and encouragement throughout our lives. Wendy Bergman Kleckner

Louise had a beautiful soul that will live on forever. I was so glad that she and her beloved Malcolm touched my life.
