David will be truly missed in the automotive world. I had the honor of working with him at the Bonneville Salt Flats back in the 1950s. My condolences to the family.

I have thought about David over the years many times.
I met David at J.S.Inskip when I was 21 years old and in the market to buy a brand new 1961 Austin Healey 3000. Well he got me one,and besides my being elated about my first automobile purchase I was in awe of David Ash,especially when he told me about his history with MG.
David presented me with the book "Maintaining The Breed" all about the early MGs and such,he even signed the book for me.
He was such a distinguished gentleman,I am so happy that he sold me my first car.
may God Bless David and the Family

Dear Family and Friends,
The Ash family wants to extend our heartfelt thanks for sharing your kind wishes and fond remembrances of Dad. Your thoughts have comforted us through this very challenging time.
We planned a memorial service for dad this past Sunday, February 12. However, the “Blizzard of ‘06” snowed out the service and reception. Life with dad was always exciting. A record breaking North East storm certianly qualifies.
We have reschedule for April 30. We looking forward to seeing many of you and sharing remembrances of dad. You can contact 617.308.6441 or [email protected] for more information.
Our Sincerest Thanks,
The Ash Family

We have lost one of the great pioneers of this sport. David was always so very positive about the club he gave so much to for so many years. I enjoyed and will miss conversations with him and the family. New York Region is all the poorer with his passing.
God Speed Mr. Ash.

Where do you start? “From out of yesterday…” Let’s see Thompson, Beverley, Sebring, West Hampton, Madison Avenue Chowder Club, the MG Car Club, as well as all those other places where we banged shoulders. In my photographing the emergence of East Coast sports car racing scene in the 50s there were lots of characters that came and went but my memories of Dave Ash have stuck tight through the years. “Mr. MG”, yes Dave you were aptly nicknamed. For those of us who knew and remember you, a soft-spoken very neat guy who also drove like the wind and enjoyed life, you’ll always be there with us. Dave, thanks for sharing time with all of us…

Condolences to the Ash Family. In the days when almost everyone involved in sports car racing had an MG at one time or another, his great performances touched us all. Thanks, David, for your contributions to the sport we loved so long ago.

My prayers are with David's family and friends. Though I only met David in his later years through one of his race cars, he remained an enthuist, living life in the "Safety-fast" lane.

To the family of David Ash, I had met Mr. David Ash through my father, Gene Henderson (rallist extraorinaire, Owner Competition Ltd., who also passed recently on 4-6-' 05 at the age of 79) I remember Mr. Ash as the one who wanted to change the rallye venue from SCCA to NARA (North American Rallye Association). Many Pro rallist went along with this and in 1976 the P.O.R. really didn't happen, but an alternative event put on by "NARA"-The Marquette 1,000 was put on instead which was won by Gene along with his navigator, Ken Pogue in a American Motors Jeep CJ-7. NARA didn't survive the year but a lot of patches on jackets probably still do. I was only 21 when I met him and knew of him for a little while. My dad was his friend in rallying. Do you know if your father/relative know of my father's passing in April. I tried for 6 months after to get as many people from the 60's to the year 2000 to attend a memorial party that was held hear in Dearborn at the Dearborn Inn on Oct. 1st 2005. We ended up with an attendance of about 155 and there was about 50+ persons who had let me know that they could not attend. I am sorry to hear of your father's passing. Both of our father's had much to do with the Pro Rallye scene of the time. They both made many contributions to the current day pro ralling. My brother was also very active in pro rallye at the time and knew your Father. His name is Garry Henderson and is 1 and 1/2 years my senior. My mother still survives and I let her know of your father's passing. Mark Henderson

Although, I hadn't seen or spoken to Dave in many years, I well remember his outstanding sportsmanship at Sebring. He was always ready to help us with his valuable advice. This was in spite of us, in a sense, being competitors.

I send my sincere sympathies to the family. David made a huge contribution to the sport of performance rallying in the 1970s. His efforts helped to put on events with good publicity and more sponsorship. He was a true professional who love autosports.

Thank you Mr. Ash for all that you did for us.....the MG people of the world, the SCCA and all else too. I am happy to learn of his Sebring/MG connection. Eye had a 1967 MGB-GT Special in competition on track at the Sebring 50th year Anniversary 12 Hour weekend. Eye was proud to preserve the MG presence there, knowing what had been done before but now I know a pioneer. Safety Fast!

I offer my deepest sympathy to the Ash family and friends. I knew David a short while from last year when we invited him for a tribute to him and his racing carreer, at The Lime Rock Race Track, October 2005. We missed him dearly when he could not attend the event for health reasons. We honored him just the same, and lifted our glasses to his many accomplishments and memory.
Warmest Personal Regards,

David is going to be missed.
He lived life as he drove MG's....with "verve".
He taught this 'youngin about the "old school".
Truly a man of class who will not soon be forgotten.
