62 years ago, Dave gave his friend my telephone number. We just celebrated our 61st anniversary. Knowing Dave he would have asked us now,
"Did the blind date work?" And then laughed!!

We knew Mercer as Dave. It goes back to Hempstead when we were kids!
When we think of Dave we remember a wonderful funny guy. His hearty laugh that went well with his personality.
Believe it or not, we still can hear his laugh!

My condolences to you all. David was one of a kind. When he called our office he would say "Mr. Baller" to which I replied "Mr. Distler", he then said "Lisa how are you...it amazes me that you always recognize my voice". Rest in peace dear sir, I shall miss recognizing your voice on the other end of the phone.

My husband and I are so sad to have read about your dad. Your dad was a friend of my brother, Shelly Bloom, and my brother-in-law, Irwin. It was your dad who introduced me 51 years ago to my husband, Newt. Fortunately we did get to see your dad at a dinner party last summer at the Goldsteins and then again in NYC. I loved your dad and will always think of him, lovingly. He was probably one of the funniest guys with quirky humor. I'm only sorry that we didn't get to see him more often!
