JEROME BOROS Obituary

BOROS--Jerome S. Jerome S. Boros, the longtime village justice of Sands Point, New York, and a lawyer, died on August 15th at his home after a long illness. He was 87. Judge Boros had a long and prominent career as an attorney specializing in communications law, and at the time of his death was also Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Lotus Communications. He was also associated with the law firm of Jaspan Schlesinger in Garden City, Long Island. Prior to that, Judge Boros was a partner in the law firm of Fly Schuebruk, Gaguine, and Boros, and later associated with the law firm of Bryan Cave. He was a member of the Harmonie Club in New York. A man of diminutive bearing, Judge Boros was known as a commanding litigator who frequently wore a cowboy hat to and from the courtroom. He served as Sands Point Village Justice for more then 20 years. He was a graduate of Syracuse University and received law degrees from Syracuse and Yale. He is survived by his wife, Elayne Boros; three stepchildren, Richard Levine, Jill Levine, and Ronald Levine, and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 20th, at 11am, at the Community Synagogue, 160 Middle Neck Road, Port Washington, NY.

Dear Elaine- Chris and I were so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing, only 2 days after my father, his friend, Donald J. Cohn. Jerry was such a warm and witty man, always finding the bon mot or amusing twist on a situation. We fondly remember how sweetly he married us in 2010. We will miss him.
All our love, Charlie and Christine Cohn

As a college student, Mr. Boros offered me my first job with his law firm. I learned much from him. He found joy from his work and required that any task - big or small - be done right. To Mrs. Boros and to his family and friends, please accept my sincere condolences.
