Harvey was my roommate and fraternity brother at Columbia College from 1969 t0 1962. I knew then he would go on to great success because of his command of economics. He was a great companion with a clever wit and friendly disposition. I miss him greatly.

Dear Mary,
I was Harvey's roommate for three years at Columbia College. I have very fond memories of him from that time. Although I only met you once or twice, I knew from speaking with Harvey how good your marriage was. I am so sorry for your loss. Harvey was always such a bright light - smart, and with high integrity, but also fun, interesting and playful. I shall miss him.

I was Harvey's college roommate and fraternity brother at Columbia College and we worked together during summers at Camp Lenox. Little did I know that he would go on to such a distinguished career even knowing he had a brilliant mind. When I visited him recently at his office at Columbia Law School, he was the same unassuming warm friend that I remembered. I was shocked to hear of his passing, but his memory will always remain in my heart. My sincere condolences to his family.

Mary, Condolences to you and your sons. I'll always remember those times from CLS and you and Jessy. Harvey was a warm, compassionate man who helped and guided me and countless other students. The world is a better place for Harvey having been here.

It is not only a great loss for his grieving family, but also for all who believe in the great importance of both teaching and effecting meaningful corporate and securities regulation. Harvey lived up to the tradition embodied by the Dwight Chair at Columbia and its occupant when we were both students -- Bill Cary, ex SEC chair under JFK. All of us who were at SEC when Harvey served admired Harvey.
