Dr.Ira Snow Jones was one in a zillion. The minute I met him,I knew I was safe. I had an orbital tumor in the socket of my eye was adjacent to the optive nerve. I could have awakened blind from the operation. This was about 42 yrs ago. There were only 2 surgeons who had done this surgery. He was the one who published the book on this subject. He showed me photos from his book of my condition, soothed me with wit&a great sense of humor&saved my eyesight! For years after,I always called &sent a card to him at New Years to thank him with all my heart. But I didn´t ask a question I always wondered about. He told me at bedside, "You know, you are a very excitable woman", said with a big smile. I just loved this miracle of a great surgeon&exceptional human being.

In 1969, I was diagnosed with Rhabodomyosarcoma in my left eye. I was 7 and Dr. Jones was my surgeon. He removed my eye and came from the OR to tell my parents , "She's cured." I am 62 now. He saved my life. He was a remarkable man and physician and I am grateful to have known him. My condolences to the family.

In 1979, my father had Ira Jones for his physician. He never just said, "Dr Jones," he'd always say, "Ira Snow Jones said...." My father had a tumor behind his eye. His friend had the exact diagnosis. Dr. Jones was very direct and told my father if he did not have surgery he would be dead in 6 months. He was scared but did it. His friend did not. In 6 months, his friend was gone. We got another 16 years with my father. I was just sitting here being very thankful to Ira Snow Jones for those years.

Dr. Jones was my ophthalmologist since 1969. He saved my vision. He was an outstanding physician and scholar - kind, charming, caring - an elegant gentleman.
May he rest in peace.
My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Jones and family.
