ROBERT KLAUSNER Obituary

KLAUSNER--Robert B. Bob, civic leader, political advocate, and philanthropist left us on March 27, after years of failing health. He left behind the love of his life, wife Betty, children Mimi (Kim), Drew and Kathy, their partners, Susan, Susan, and Beni, brother Bill and family, Kampan, Boon Song and Khem, major domo Virginia Ribeiro, brother-in-law Clay Tedeschi, his Miller cousins, grandchildren Guston, Olive, Noah, Max, Emma and Oscar, great- grandchild Theodore and cousin Leslie Steinmetz. Bob was born October 4, 1926 to David and Mickey (Miller) Klausner in Jersey City, NJ. He graduated from Yale and moved to Manhattan when he married Betty in 1950. Bob worked in sales for H. Warshow and Sons, a textile company. The family moved to Santa Barbara, CA in 1973. He was involved in community environmental issues such as offshore oil production, recycling, conservation, and land use. He mentored political reformers and worked to keep government accountable to its citizens. Bob and Betty moved in 1993 to San Francisco, CA, where all their children and grandchildren were then living. He was involved in many projects including community mediation, investigative journalism, and campaign finance reform. Bob Klausner was witty, warm, and a wise old-school gentleman. A memorial service is being planned in San Francisco.

Betty dear, my deepest condolences on Bob's passing. I will write Bill in BKK. Once u left SB, I lost touch with you, but always remember visiting and staying with you both when I did the antiques show at the Miramar. I was sorry that Bob had a long illness, and now is at peace, at last.

A gentle hug, dodi fromson, los angeles
