Hal and I grew up together in Nashville. We were best friends back then, and I'll always miss him. I'm so sorry he's gone.

My mentor, my friend. Thank you for always encouraging the best in me, and for leaving a legacy of passion and wonder for theater and good design. You are truly loved and missed.

What a brilliant and kind man he was! His classes were tough and he expected the most out of you. He was thoughtful and took time with each person to discuss every aspect of their designs. Thank you, Hal. You taught us all to do better than we ever thought we could!

An absolutely brilliant man that taught me more than he ever knew. It was the greatest of pleasures having been able to know him and I won't soon forget any of our time together or the lessons in life that resulted.

Hal Tine saw in his students all of the potential we had to offer, and he unlocked it. We are forever grateful for his mentoring and carry his spirit on in our hearts. My very best to his family, Hal will be missed but will continue to be loved by all.

Hal was an amazing designer and professor, who inspired me and many others. I am so grateful for the time I had with him. My condolences go to his family... May the light he gave to so many of his colleagues and students comfort you in this hard time.
