ALVIN GRAYSON Obituary
July 21, 1921 - February 16, 2017. Devoted husband, father of two, talented prosthodontist and educator who taught at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine (CDM) for 55 years. Dr. Grayson, who trained in engineering before dentistry, served his country as Chief Engineer for the Merchant Marine Services during WWII. He later served as a U.S. Army Captain in charge of the U.S. Army Clinic in Fontenet, France from 1955-1957. Upon return to New York, Dr. Grayson began practicing prosthodontics. In 1961, he found a true calling when he joined the Columbia faculty. He was beloved by students and colleagues - not to mention private practice patients - for the rest of his years. He is survived by two sons, Jon and Craig. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made in Dr. Grayson's honor to the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine at 622 West 168th Street, PH 7W 7-316, New York, NY 10032.
