GAIL SORREL-MOSK Obituary

SORREL-MOSK--Dr. Gail,

age 57, of Scarsdale, NY, died peacefully on September 19, 2017 after a six-year battle with cancer. Gail grew up in Scarsdale, graduating from Scarsdale High School before earning her undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 1982, where she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. From early on, Gail knew she wanted to care for people and pursue a medical career. She received her medical degree from Cornell University Medical School in 1986, followed by an internship at Tufts Medical Center, additional training in nuclear medicine at Harvard, a residency in radiology at North Shore Hospital and a fellowship at Saint Barnabas in New Jersey. Dr. Sorrel-Mosk worked as a practicing radiologist for almost 30 years in Westchester County and New York City, most recently as an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Columbia University Medical Center. Though deeply dedicated to her patients and accomplished in her medical career, Gail's passion was her family, especially her children Mitchell and Andrea. She loved spending time with her parents and siblings as well as her many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed being part of a large extended family, and cherished celebrating holidays together. She stayed in contact, always had a gift and a card, and made calls for birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions. She was the family photographer and the glue that kept her family bonded. Gail is survived by her children, Mitchell and Andrea Mosk; her parents, Norma and Jerry Sorrel; her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Lauren Sorrel; her brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Susan Sorrel; her former husband, Gary Mosk; her aunt and uncle, Irma and Mort Handel; and her many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Congregation Kol Ami, 252 Soundview Avenue, White Plains, NY at 11:30am, followed by interment at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ. In lieu of flowers and food, the family asks that donations be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. All donations will support endometrial cancer research. Please make checks payable to "MSK" and send to the Office of Development, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Attn: Lauren Kelly, 885 Second Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10017. Please indicate on the check that the gift is in memory of Gail Sorrel-Mosk. Donations can also be made online at GAIL SORREL-MOSK MEMORIAL FUND.
