THOMAS LOFTUS Obituary

LOFTUS--Thomas Patrick,

on September 30, 2017. Tom was born in Detroit, Michigan to Richard and Marie Loftus on March 18, 1950. He attended St. Mary's of Redford HS where he was active in all sports. Upon graduation, he fulfilled a boyhood dream by attending and graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1972. He was a member of the Notre Dame Rugby Team. Tom maintained an enthusiastic loyalty to Notre Dame throughout his life. Tom began his working life in various marketing positions in Detroit and San Francisco. In 1978, he moved to New York City where he built a very successful career in advertising sales and achieved several promotions and awards for his accomplishments. His personal skills, sense of humor and determination were key elements to his success. Tom was a longtime member of the New York Athletic Club, which he frequented regularly. Tom spent the last half of his life battling the effects of multiple sclerosis and epilepsy. He was devoted to the efforts of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and volunteered there faithfully. Despite his struggles, Tom always retained his enthusiasm for life and, above all else, his love for his family. His courage provided a great example for everyone. Tom is survived by Mary Anne (his wife of 30 years), his two sons Brendan and Ryan, his brothers William (Betty) and Richard (Karen), his sister Nancy Joyce (James), fifteen nephews and nieces, and numerous lifelong friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be at Gannon Funeral Home, 152 East 28th St., on Tuesday, October 3rd from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 4th at Church of the Epiphany, 375 2nd Ave., at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Tom's name. Go to nationalmssociety.org to donate.

My deepest sympathy to Tom's family. I have many vivid memories of Tom from the old Detroit neighborhood and St. Mary's and a few wild nights in our 20's. He was unforgettable and we are blessed for the memories.

Bus ride we meet Bro.John Driscoll. And the rest.., was..history..we had a ball..at Holy Cross and ND. Your Dad and Mom drove us to South Bend..many time..and the love they
Had for each other..was so clear ...you are home with them..Love of Christ is with you .
You will be in my thoughts and Prayers always, Gene Griffin
