Russell Clay Obituary

ABILENE Rusty went home Wednesday, July 16, 2014, to be with his LORD and SAVIOR.

He was born February 4, 1961, in Odessa to David and Elizabeth "Liz" C1ay.

He attended Odessa Schools and joined the Marines in August 1979 and served for 6 years. As a little boy he was an impressive figure with his curly blond hair and sparkling blue eyes, with a broom stick on his shoulders marching up and down his backyard singing the Marines Battle Hymn, from The Halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli. He wanted to be a Marine like his Uncle "Bubba" Rev. Roscoe L. Seay, Jr. and also his Grandpa Russell "Smitty" Smith. He was saved at an early age and as a teenager loved being involved at his church. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in a time of need.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roscoe L. and Mary Seay and Russell and Lydia Smith; his nephew, Christopher Ryan Clay; his sister-in-law, Jenny L. Clay; his aunt and uncle, the Rev. Roscoe L., Jr., and Mary Seay; and his aunt, Lajuana Thomashide.

Those left to cherish his memories are his mom and dad, David and Elizabeth Clay; his two brothers, Thomas Mitchell "Mitch" and Eddie Clay, both of Odessa; his sister, Lydia Loriann Moreaux and husband Gregory of McKinney, Texas; and many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to express the most Gracious of Gratitude to the doctors, nurses and Hospice of Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.

Donations may be made to Door of Hope Mission, Odessa, or the charity of your choice.
